Autumn and winter were very busy with the final few tournaments of the season for ATP Media, delivering the last edits for a ratings record smashing Giants Live, and 6 weeks in the desert landscape of Doha for the FIFA World Cup working as part of the Infotainment team.
Above is the last VT that was produced with ace editor Vadym Skylaruk, that was shown on the big screens at the Lusail Stadium before the FIFA World Cup Final.
Before that though, I was lucky enough to work as Edit-Lead on the final Masters event of the year, the Paris 1000. A colossal coming of age story unfolded as the week progressed as a young gun in the form of Holge Rune stormed through to the final, beating five of the world’s top ten as he clinched the title. He defeated 6-time champ Novak Djokovic in a thrilling climax to the week to make sure that Carlos Alcaraz wasn’t the only youngster who was being talked about this season.
It was soon time to dust off the Atlas Stones and stretch the spandex as Giants Live went to air on Channel 5 over the Christmas period. The great news is that 3 of the 5 episodes toppled the 1 million mark for the broadcaster, with the other 2 shows just shy of that golden mark.
It’s the first time 3 Giants episodes have hit over a million and marks a truly fantastic end to what was an emotional and action fuelled season.
2023 has a lot to live up to, starting with Britain's Strongest Man at the end of January.
It was destination Doha for a 6 week stint working as part of FIFA’s Infotainment production. Between 2 edit teas, around 350 to 400 VTs were made for the in-stadia broadcast. This was a monumental effort by all involved, led by Rob Heath and Chris Parrott and was an honour to be part off.
Even managed to find tickets for most England games… shame about that penalty…!
