Clay courts & 2023 thoughts...

Updated: Apr 5

The past few months have seen me wrap on the ATP Tour for another season as well as delving deep into delivery for the Giants Live, World’s Strongest Man series and edit prep for ‘Beyond The Horizon’.

October saw my sixth and final event for the 2023 ATP season, closing out the Basel 500. Its been an epic year full of stories, most notably the continuing rise of Carlos Alcaraz to the tennis peaks. Starting the season producing World Feed content for the Rio 500, then tournaments including Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, Queens, Beijing and Basel, it was always Alcaraz as the key figure who appeared.

His trajectory has been rapid and exceptionally steep, and its fantastic to see another classy ambassador doing the business on and off the court. Tennis has been blessed with quite a few of those in the guise of Rafa and Roger… and now Carlos has picked up responsibility of being the poster boy for the sport very smoothly. It’s easy to forget he only turned 20 during the Madrid Masters.

Looking forward to next season and seeing where he goes.

Elsewhere, since returning from filming ‘Beyond The Horizon’ in Tonga back in September, I’ve finished producing three episodes of Giants Live, directed two more, and am currently closing out delivery of those. It’s been another jam-packed strongman season, with a rampant roller-coaster of narratives within each episode… thrilling and terrifying stories and acts of strength… tune into Channel 5 this Christmas and hold on to your sofas, as its quite a ride this year.

Speaking of 2023, it’s been a fun 11 months so far. ATP, Giants Live, Women’s World Cup in Sydney, Goodwoof! for Gravity and completing filming for the feature length documentary ‘Beyond The Horizon’… certainly a year to remember, especially the 2 months travel back in the summer. And its not over yet, with edit prep this month for the doco and editing due in December and January. So not taking the foot off the gas just yet.

Key to it all has been teamwork. The year has been another firm and fun reminder that without great people around you, taking on plenty of tough challenges, listening and laughing, things would not be anywhere near as successful nor enjoyable. I'll be raising a

glass to quite a few people this upcoming festive season.
